An Important Message for all Danny The Dog Fans.

It is with a heavy heart that I share this post. Our favorite canine and beloved friend of the blogosphere, Danny the Dog, crossed the rainbow bridge last Tuesday. Our thoughts and prayers are with his human, Andrew. If Danny were here, I think he might say that he himself needs no prayers ~ just a few more turkey slices 🙂 Journey well, sweet Danny. You will be sorely missed ❤

My heart is with you, Andrew. Danny reached so many hearts, because you gave him a voice with which to reach them ❤

Thank you to Chris Graham for breaking the news of Danny’s passing ❤

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

In case you were wondering why Danny The Dog wasn’t making his usual visit to respond to all your comments under his post yesterday, I regret to tell you that it was his last posting.

Danny died last Tuesday (18th July 2017)

His human, Andrew Joyce sent me the following eulogy:

My name is Andrew.

Until recently, I had the distinct honor of cohabitating with a true wit and an all-around good guy, Danny the Dog.

But now that the summer’s gone and all the flowers are dying—when all the sunshine was in shadow—he had to leave me. Oh, Danny Boy, I love you so. Sleep in peace until I come to you.

Now that I’ve plagiarized the song Danny Boy, I’ll have a go at Shakespeare.

Friends, bloggers, lovers of Danny, lend me your ears.
I come to praise Danny, not to bury him.
The bad stuff dogs do…

Smorgasbord Christmas Party -Food and Drink – Dinner for the fur family.

Oh, the goosebumps … and the tears ~ of joy. Sally Cronin‘s post on feeding our fur families is exquisite. She includes multiple tips and links, as well as some delicious-sounding homemade recipes. The clincher, however, is the video. Thirty homeless fur balls are given a holiday feast, and several are adopted; the perfect critter holiday video

Smorgasbord Christmas PartyThis is an updated post from a year ago today with new videos and information.

Apart from the recipes there are some health issues that are important if you are not going to have sick pets during the holidays. Many human foods, especially packaged full of chemicals can be very harmful.

dog

During our thousands of years of our relationship with dogs up to around 30 years ago, pets were fed on scraps from our own dinner. Then the billion dollar a year pet food industry was born…. and the majority of our domestic dogs and cats went from eating natural food to dry pellets. (Almost 24 Billion dollars in the US alone!).  http://www.americanpetproducts.org/press_industrytrends.asp

I appreciate that most of the animal foods available today may be touted as being rich in nutrients and full of vitality but I am afraid that I steer clear of dried food and its additives…

Danny’s Annual Christmas Message

Cripes! How many rotten things can one good dog tolerate? Danny the Dog is over at Chris’ place on The Story Reading Ape filling us in on Andrew’s supercilious shenanigans. Oh, and the telling is so comprehensive that his Christmas message has to be insinuated. But hey, when your dander is up and you’re given a platform to vent . . . 🙂

Danny’s Annual Christmas Message

Well, it’s that time of year where I have to set the world right with my message of peace and love. It’s a big responsibility, but it’s the least that I can do for my fellow canines and their humans.

I reckon I should first introduce myself to those of you who have been off planet for the last few years. I am Danny the Dog, dog extraordinaire. Humans wait with bated breath for my monthly epistles to appear in print. Scientists consult me for the cure of various diseases. And Andrew, my human, needs me to turn on his computer every morning. You would think by now he would have mastered the complicated process of pressing a particular button, but you’d be wrong.

Before I get to my message of peace and love, I’d like to tell you a little about my trials and tribulations…

Zoe Meets Burt…

Zoe the Fabulous Feline and Burt the Tom disagree on how they met, but they do agree that they are good friends. However, Burt tends to exaggerate and Zoe tells it like it is. Hop over to The Story Reading Ape for the fur-flying details. 🙂

Zoe Meets Burt

zoe-prof-pic
Hello dear fans and friends. Zoe here. As you may or may not know, last month I went on a little trip. Since I didn’t have time to write a story before I left, I asked my friend, Burt, to entertain you in my place, but, as promised, I am back!

First, for those who don’t know me, my name is Zoe. I’m a cat writer. Don’t misunderstand. I am not a human named Zoe who writes about cats. I am a cat named Zoe who writes about humans. Sometimes. Other times I write about my adventures or whatever else is on my mind.

Since I had Burt take my place last month—and because his story My Name is Burt was so <ahem> popular—I may as well tell you how we met. Get it out of the way, if you know what I mean. As it happens…

Danny’s Dilemma

Danny the Dog brings us a not-so-tail-wagging tale from around the marina. He tries to teach his human a lesson, but Andrew is either a bit obtuse or too irritated to get the message! What’s a dog to do? Hop over to The Story Reading Ape and read about Danny’s best laid scheme that went astray 🙂

Danny Happy
To run or not to run, that is the question. Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them? . . . to paraphrase Billy Shakespeare.

Howdy, folks. It’s me, Danny the Dog. I live on a boat with my human, Andrew. Today, I’m here to speak about outrageous fortune. And the outrageous fortune of which I speak is the insidious leash he makes me wear. I mean . . . really . . . just because I’ve run away a few times, he thinks I can’t be trusted. I’m a big boy—I’m almost fourteen years old! I can go out catting (excuse the expression) around at night and still make my way home all by myself.

So here’s my problem. Andrew doesn’t use a regular leash like any sane…

Zoe and Burt…

Zoe the Fabulous Feline relinquishes her guest spot on The Story Reading Ape this month to Burt, the daring and non-chatty (he likes to think) adventurer. And what a tale he has to tell! But Zoe couldn’t resist commenting on Burt’s post, so you’ll still have a chance to interact with our favorite fun and furry feline 🙂

Dear Friends, Zoe here but not for long! I’ve been preparing to take this trip, you see, and have been so busy that I neglected to write up a wonderful new adventure for you. So, I’ve asked a friend to take my spot this month. I’ve told you about my human, Emily, and I’ve told you about my friend, Bella, but I’ve never told you about my friend Burt. Or how I met him. That is a tale for another day. Let’s just say that Burt owed me a favor. Big time. I’m happy to call in my chips today, probably happier than he is to be called on to do this favor for me. At any rate, here is Burt. I hope he entertains you well but don’t get too enamored, for I will be back next month!

Danny’s Latest Adventures

Danny XXlI just got in from walking my human; his name is Andrew. I, of course, am Danny the Dog, purveyor of wit and words, not to mention wisdom.

Many a time I’ve kept you engrossed with my wondrous tales of taking Andrew for his morning constitutional to the park; however, I’ve been remiss in not regaling you with narratives of our stop by the Tiki hut every morning. In a moment, The Adventure at the Tiki Hut, but first the Tiki hut itself.

A Tiki hut, for those of you who are from another planet, is a structure consisting of four open walls and a pitched roof covered with palm fronds. The Tiki hut at our marina sports a refrigerator, a microwave oven, and three grills—two gas, and one regular. The humans used to congregate there in the evenings and do what humans do, mostly talk. But…

Zoe and Those Feline Blues…

Zoe the Fabulous Feline, aka Zoe Gmitter,  has a wonderful summers-end story for us. Humor, sunshine and shadows, and a best friend highlight this titillating tale. Even her human, Emily, is mentioned more than once 🙂

Zoe and Those Feline Blues

I can hear you all now. Zoe’s got the blues? Yes, I do . . . well, I did. Now I’m doing the happy dance! Before you go diagnosing me with some sort of mood disorder, let me explain this story of mixed emotions.

Before I do, though—a big “hello!” to my fellow felines, and to those friends of the canine and humanine persuasion, as well. To anyone who may not know me, my name is Zoe and I am a fabulous feline (so fabulous, I coin new words as needed to suit my purpose). I write about my adventures, and sometimes about my life with my human, Emily, which can be an adventure.

I hope you all are having a wonderful summer, though its end is fast approaching. I hate endings, don’t you? Some say an end is just a new beginning. “When one…
